Today was a good day...I used my lathe today.
I'm not sure why, but that always puts me in a pleasant state of mind. Something about watching the metal rotate as it's pealed away by the tool-bit. The warm yellow glow of the bronze against the industrial grey made it that much better.

You're not the only one - turning a free-cutting metal on the lathe is downright therapeutic for me. Much like the shaper, being able to actually see the tool doing the work (unlike in a mill, where the cutting edge is either buried or spinning too fast to see) is mesmerizing and relaxing, like a kinetic sculpture.
