I was so excited when I saw this, as I'd love to be able to someday have an R/C jet (heck with ducted fans - I want that turbine SOUND). After a bit of digging, though, this is actually just as the video claims - afterburner "effect" with a Jetcat LCU (lighting control unit) and LED afterburner 'ring'.
I found some info and pics here: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_8457194/anchors_8491898/mpage_2/key_/anchor/tm.htm#
I still love the look and effect, though! I'll never forget the Milwaukee Air and Water Show from a few years back...
It was a Saturday, and I was on the lakefront at Veterans Park, but didn't yet have my scanner radio dialed in to listen to what was happening. I think one of the heritage flights had just finished, and the crowd was waiting for the next 'act' to appear. Suddenly there was an ear-shattering *ROAR* overhead, and every neck in the audience suddenly snapped skyward to see the straw-yellow afterburner end of an F-16 moving out over Lake Michigan at just this side of the sound barrier at an altitude that would have been a collision course with the taller buildings in Milwaukee. The wild cheer that erupted from the crowd was louder than any applause for the Blue Angels that followed later on.
I'm not a big fan of the F-16 as a fighter (the F-15 is my favorite), but the sound of an afterburning turbine never fails to give me an ear-to-ear grin!
