Jill and I went to the hospital last night. She had been having strong contractions on and off for most of the night and decided that we should go as they were getting closer together. We got to the hospital at around midnight and things leveled off after that and we were, all of a sudden, in it for the long haul. We were hoping for a quick labor like we had with Maya, but it wasn't happening. It was all good though as we had a chance to stay up late and talk and laugh. The nurse kept saying that Jill was the happiest woman in labor that she had ever seen (our nurse was not your typical nurse either though; she was a blessing to have with us through this experience as her professionalism and kindness was top notch). It was a long night and Jill powered through with no medication and we had Olivia Blair at 6:31am this morning. Olivia is healthy with lots of dark hair and a great completion. And Jill is up and moving around and continuing to blow me away with her gratitude and kindness even in the face of adversity during labor. No other woman that I have ever met is as thoughtful and kind. Childbirth is one of the most amazing things I have ever witnessed. Describing it scientifically or to have someone explain it doesn't do it justice nor does it seem feasible until you witness the miracle of creation first hand. No matter what, I guarantee your life will never be the same after the experience of bringing another human being into this world. It removes YOU from the center of YOUR OWN Universe and squarely places you at the center of your offspring's Universe. Humbling...
