It's a new year. This past year has been a difficult year for my family so I am glad to have a fresh start. I'm going to make an attempt to keep up with projects and such here as I've been wanting to get back int regular use of the blog again.
Leading up to Christmas, I have been cleaning and organizing in the house and shop. For some reason, it feels like I'm finally settling into our living space even though we've been here for quite sometime. I think I'm just figuring out where things should go and how to utilize the space. I've been working on creating a media room in the room that is above the attached two car garage so that the girls can have friends over and we can have a fun space to just hang out and watch movies and listen to music. Jill's Uncle Larry had given us a Pioneer Stereo that had belonged to Jill's Grandpa and we had been using it in the main living space, but it was just sitting out and not really organized well.
I used some recycled acrylic from American Apparel (that was in a dumpster outside my Milwaukee studio) and some 80/20 aluminum extrusion from John McGeeen (that we were using for building a laser cutter) many years ago. I drilled and threaded the ends of the 80/20 for 1/4-20 bolts and then sanded off the student vinyl stickers on the acrylic sheets that I had displayed in the DCRL. I had some left over casters from another junked chair from school that I used on the bottom sheet. Maya helped me bolt it all together and we did some cord management inside the grooves of the 80/20. I got it all set-up in the room and now we can listen to vinyl or plug in a phone for Spotify.
