Went to the Harley Museum today. A lot of great history of the city of Milwaukee and of the Industrial evolution era not to mention the H-D company. Mechanical advancement is evident as you progress through the galleries. Cultural and social significance also increases and you become aware of the significance of the brand upon our culture. Section on design development is great and the entire museum has a a design sense that is engaging. Went to a talk on restoration and preservation. Speaker made some great comments on the difference between these two terms and discussed the museum's role as preserver of the history and the multiple types of objects that they must be well versed on (metal, paint, varnishes, paper, leather, clothing, etc.). Interesting indeed and well worth the visit.
