I put some filler on the tank and seat last night. I started to sand it, but still have a lot to remove. It's looking pretty good so far and I'm hoping to sand the rest of it later today.
ok... technical/technique question: With everything mottled and patched, how can you tell if you're sanding it smooth vs. sanding too much? By touch? Some sort of magic?
I'm not sure what the technique is other than sand it with a really flat sanding block and stop when the metal starts to peek through. Right now the tank has way more filler on it than it needs. The only rough spot are around the tank lid and at the front near the mounts. I'm hoping this doesn't turn into the fiasco that Eric's car did. It went something like this..... slather it on, sand it off, slather it on, sand it off, repeat several times.
This shouldn't be too much of a snow ball..... there's way less surface area!
If you really want to get in trouble, fill every micro pin hole with glazing putty and repeat the slater/sand process for another 10 days! I suck with filler.
