I picked up a new South Bend 13" lathe. Thanks to Jim for helping me get it unloaded and up the elevator. I've been wanting a bigger lathe for a while and I'm partial to the South Bend. I'm a little embarrassed that my bias really just has to do with the aesthetics of the machine. The castings are gorgeous. It has the D1-4 locking spindle which I think I'm really going to like. The hole through the spindle seems giant compared to my 9" South Bend. I'm hoping to pick up a nice set of collets to use with it. For the time being, I need to figure out the motor situation since I don't have 3 phase power in my studio or 220. It also needs a good bath.
