Noah made a Yoda sized light saber tonight. He faced, center-drilled, bored and turned the handle to fit the acrylic rod that he found in my studio. Don't worry Mom, we discussed lathe safety, moving parts, and resisting the temptation of grabbing the swarf as it exits the work piece. We had some grubby hands by the time we were finished.

This is so damned awesome!
Thanks! I just hope he grows up to appreciate making stuff!!
How could he not? Seriously, this is the sort of thing that reminds me to make sure I'm putting the important things first. That said, i bet he won't even realize that not every kids has parents with either the ability, interest, or time to do this kind of stuff. My wife and her siblings are still surprised at how disengaged most peoples parents were.
