how to drill a ball bearing

So I ordered some stainless steel ball bearings that I want to turn into connecting links for the new chain. The spheres were hard so I had to anneal them before drilling. I was trying to figure out how I was going to hold them while I drilled them, when I remembered a little tool that Ian had made for me in grad school (notice, he even stamped my name into it). He made this nifty pearl drilling jig that I thought would work beautifully for drilling 1/8" holes in my new ball bearings. I just had to make an 1/8" brass guide for it.

The little jig is going to work beautifully. Thanks Ian; I owe you!
