titanium blade

I cut a blade for the new cutter in titanium last night. I did this on the Taig and it actually cut pretty well. I'll have a little cleanup and will still have to bevel the blade, but overall it looks good. I think I'll anodize this.

NICE! What feeds, speeds, tooling, etc. did you use?

Spindle speed was on the slowest speed: 1100rpm

Feed rate was 25 IPM, but I was playing with the machine rate in Mach 3 while it was cutting. I probably ran it at 100% most of the time except when it started to machine in a new area (then 50%). BUT I was taking .001 in each pass. I'm sure that wasn't correct for proper chipload! But I made some titanium DUST.

I used a drill bit for the holes and a 1/8" flat carbide endmill for the inside and outside profile.

I need to research the cutting of titanium. I think I might be able to do this correctly in the future, but I was here late and just kinda did it "spur of the moment".
