printed bins

I stopped by Bryan's studio on Friday to help him troubleshoot his MendelMax printer problems and to look at the robotic arm progress. He showed me the bit organizer and plastic bins that he had printed. The bins stack and he uses the breakaway support material that is needed for the rear mounting lip, as a divider insert. Very cool and they look great!

this is a great idea. Although how expensive is this to make?

5 lbs of abs filament is around $90. Bryan probably has less than 3 oz. in each one and I think he's using PLA. I can't think that it's more than $1.00 of material in each one. Of course this is only considering material cost and not energy. With filament prices going down I think this will soon become a viable way of making things like this.

Super clever! Did Bryan post it to Thingiverse?
