prosthetic hand: milwaukee prt.15 (alginate mold and plaster cast)

We made a cast of Shea's hand today. We made an alginate mold and then I poured a plaster cast from the mold. Shea thought the alginate was cold and I'm sure it was as I remember them using the material when I would get retainers made at the orthodontist many years ago. I have always loved using the alginate as a mold material. the casts always turn out so well. Having this will be very helpful to us in designing a more custom prosthetic for Shea. This will also help our students to see what Shea's affected hand looks like and help them to visualize as they start to develop ideas for Shea.
