The rear fender had a channel that ran underneath the length of the fender that was intended for the wiring that runs to the brake light. This channel collected mud and eventually caused the fender to rust out along most of the entire length of the fender. I unbolted the hinged rear section which is in good condition and then proceeded to cut the bad section out. I'll be able to make a new pice for this and then I'll decided if I should add the channel back or not. I'm shooting for a functional bike rather than a correct restoration.
