I had to fix my FJ40 transmission hump this summer. The previous owner who installed the SBC conversion had left the hump cover cut out since the trans and transfer case were is a slightly different position due to the conversion. This summer I was getting a lot of heat from the exhaust coming up through the large opening since I wasn't able to run the proper shift boots. I had put off making this repair when I was getting things back together. I had thought about just patching over with an aluminum plate, but decided to take the cover out and do it right. It turned out to be a quick weekend project that was really easy to do so I'm glad I did it and now have things sealed up.
