This FJ has served as the major inspiration for the drivetrain in my current FJ40 stretch project. It has the same engine that I am using and I used the same method of flipping the front differential. The pics of been helpful in identifying how I want this mechanical build to look. The images are from this article.

trakka toyotas
Took the family for a ride in the FJ40 today. The girls squeezed in the back fold down seats and Noah sat on the floor in the back. It reminds Jill of our old Suzuki Samurai; just larger. I think I might need a Troopy as the kids get older. I discovered a Trakka pop top today. It marries the best things about a VW camper with that of an extended FJ in the form of an HJ45 Troop Carrier. Also found a a shot of a FJ55 with a Trakka top. Cool stuff. I can imagine a Trakka camper conversion in a Troopy now.
