fixed

Went to Ben's Cycle yesterday to get some goodies for my bike. They fixed me up good and even showed me their storage place across the street and the supply shelves upstairs in their old shop. Their new shop across the street looks stellar too. They were super friendly and helpful. I highly recommend them! I know E gets a lot of stuff for his bikes from there and I'm pretty sure he has been happy with the service.

Just finished working on the build-up of my new fixed gear bicycle. I still have several things to do to this like black out the cranks, handlebars, seat post, chain, and chainring, but I couldn't wait to ride it tonight. I also have to make turn some washers so I can nix the large chain ring and just run the small one. I love the way this feels already. It's going to take a little getting used to, but I love the direct feel that it has. It feels like the work that you put into pedaling in some way is lost through a conventional free wheel whereas I feel like I just keep accelerating with the fixed gear and every ounce of energy is transferred instantly to the rear wheel. Maybe I'm crazy though.

Anyway, I like it....
