The earls front fork has a lower brace that fouls the commutator on the alternator. When some people do this conversion they flatten the back section of this tube brace, but I just don't like the way this looks. I decided to cut the brace off and then I plan on relocation it up an inch or two. This should give me the needed clearance I need. I'll still have to probably make a custom front engine cover or modify a stock one. This is common with most conversions and becomes even more of an issue on the larger /7 engine conversions. I decided to bolt everything up again before re-welding the brace so I can be sure to get it in the proper location. I want this as low as possible so i can retain the strength that this gives to the front end. Very important for the future sidecar plans. Notice the two pivot mounts in the last picture on the lower lugs. One is for solo use and the other for sidecar operation. It changes the front end geometry and makes handling right for each application. Smart....
