The iron (blacksmithing) studio was by far one of the most amazing spaces at Penland. I spotted a Dan Neville hammer in the hammer rack; so nice! You may have remembered that I wote a blog post about Dan a while ago. Dan is a super talented individual! Rachel showed me the dies she is making for her rolling pin. She turned the mild steel pattern and then she made the dies in steel with the power hammer. She is relieving the edges of the die so she can press some brass handles. I can't wait to see the finished pieces!
