student of the month

I went to the kid's school a few weeks ago for a meeting and saw this on a bulletin board at school. Maya was student of the month. She really does live up to the values they had posted. Even as a little kid she is one of the most thoughtful and kind people I know (unless she's tired or hungry). She reminds me of her Great Grandmother Blair. Grandma Ruby Grace Blair would be thankful for, and praise a rainy day as much as a sunny day. I don't think I've ever witnessed anyone quite like that in my life and now I get a front row seat to this through Maya Grace Flood. It's funny how things like that repeat and happen. This world needs more positive energy for sure and seeing this brought some light into my world. It would be nice if we could all take the time to "shine" a bit more to those around us.

maya's mask

Maya followed Caitlin around and worked with her during the Handathon. Afterwards they made a mask together. Maya talked about Caitlin and mentioned how nice she was later in the day. It's good to have kind and caring graduate and undergraduate students.

loose tooth x 2

I woke up this morning and Maya wanted me to pull her first loose tooth. I was able to accomplish the task with no drama, which was awesome for us both. I came home tonight and she decided that we should pull the other loose tooth. The second one was a little more difficult, but she did a great job. Two teeth in one day; crazy!

fj40 sanding

Last week I unbolted the FJ roof and sanded the entire fiberglass roof section, sanded the ambulance doors, sanded the fenders, and inspected the steel section of the top for rust. Maya helped me do the roof with the orbital sander and she even worked the putty knife for a while. She's meticulous and she's a "machine" when you get her going on a task. She doesn't want to stop until it's finished. I'm loving this! The fiberglass roof has a couple places that need to be filled, but it's in really good condition and the steel base plate that it's riveted to is also in great condition. The windshield header plate will need to be re-vited, but it shouldn't be too difficult  I still need to strip the paint off the interior sheetmetal, but it's getting closer to being ready for some paint. Just need to send Maya out to the garage and she'll get the work completed.
