fs: side car

I'm selling my sidecar for the BMW slash 2 conversion. I decided that it just made sense to do this as I'm thinking of possibly buying a new bike. The funds from the sidecar will hopefully allow me to put a healthy down payment on some new wheels. I have a couple interested buyers, but if anyone is looking for a side hack, let me know.

r50 seat rebuild

I started work on re-building the seat on the Slash 2 conversion Beemer. I picked up some carpet padding at Home Depot and some 3M spray adhesive and then sliced a few sheets that I could stack together. I made a template from the old seat (or at least the best I could as it is toast) and carved the foam billet. By the time I was done carving the garage looked like a few teddy bears had lost their lives, but I have the general shape I need. The slings that support the foam were kind of jacked up, so I tweaked those and tried to pull the seat frame back into square. I have a couple things that need to be welded on the frame and then I can do some finish work on the foam and fine tune the form. The new seat cover with white piping looks stellar. I really prefer the look of the solo seat on Slash 2's but you have to have a bench seat if you're going to take the whole family with you. I'll see if I can get the seat frame repaired soon, so I can start stretching the seat vinyl.

slash 2 conversion

I worked on my BMW Slash 2 conversion tonight. I cut the engine cover for clearance so I wouldn't have to cut the gas tank mount on the frame. This will assure that that the tank stays at the stock location and level. My Kawasaki KZ440 dual lead coil came so I made some mounts for it and created a sheet metal tabs for the other electronics. I fit the top engine covers and checked clearances and everything looks great. The engine is tight but it should work. I took the right side shock part and freed the piston/shaft so it would work properly. I need to figure out what to do about the front engine cover and weld the brackets on for the electronics. Hopefully, I can get things wired back up and get the brakes hooked up so I can go for a test ride soon.
